Having demonstrated the value of a simple piece of paper for creating interesting characters for our stories, Tony Wilson returns again with another ingenius use for a single leaf of paper. This time, though, Tony’s focus is on devleoping the overall plot of the the story.
As always, Tony’s main focus is teaching kids how to write good stories, but that doesn’t stop us from also learning a thing or two about how to become better writers.
How to Plan and Plot a Story
Points to Remember
- Again divide a piece of paper into three sections
- The left section is the beginning of the story, middle section the middle, third section the ending of the story
- Pick an element to start the story with (location, event, etc.). This is the beginning section of the story. Note the characteristics, qualities, personalities, etc. of the beginning
- Decide what is going to happen in the story. This is the middle section of the paper. Note the main points, characters and qualities of this section.
- Figure out how the story ends. This is the ending section. Again, note the qualities and characteristics of this section.
- Interrelate elements from the various sections together
